Entrance:
Blue lights begin to flash around the building as "We Care A Lot" by Faith No More begins to play. Anyone that was having a good night is most likely about to have it ruined as Drew McIntyre steps out from behind the curtain and onto the stage. A mixed crowd reaction follows as the Scotsman slowly walks towards the top of the ramp before stopping and looking directly at the ground. After five to ten seconds of build up, The Claymore King lifts his head and arms up which sets off fire pyrotechnics all around him.
Tony Chimel: From Ayr, Scotland. Weighing in at 265 pounds, Drew McIntyre!
The flames continue to go off intermittently as McIntyre makes his way down the ramp at a steady pace. Once at the bottom, he turns and heads for the steel ring steps. After taking a brief pause, he smacks the top of the steps with his open hand, not once, but twice, before climbing up them and then grabbing the ropes in order to perch himself on the top rope.
The former UWF Champion takes a look at his surroundings before raising his arms again and letting out a hearty battle cry that can be heard from the front rows all the way to the back. McIntyre then drops down to the mat and unclips his ring coat before removing it and dropping it to the outside in order to prepare for the upcoming contest.
UWF Bio:
After spending a considerable period of time away from the UWF, Drew McIntyre made a shocking return to the fold by answering Danhausen’s open challenge on the 30th March 2023 edition of Rebellion, subsequently dealing significant physical damage to the former Intercontinental Champion in the process. Just a few nights later, McIntyre would again target Danhausen following his match at Wrestlemania XII, this time taking the very nice, very evil one out of commission for good with another devastating attack. With the watching world wondering why McIntyre had returned and targeted Danhausen, the Scotsman explained his actions on the subsequent episode of Revolution, whilst also naming himself “The Destroyer” in the process.
Intending to build on his vicious return to the fold, McIntyre found a new target in the shape of Eddie Guerrero, who in rather foolish fashion sprayed The Destroyer with champagne after he inadvertently walked in on Guerrero's celebration party following his wedding to Eve Torres. Despite it clearly being accidental, McIntyre did not see it that way and brought the celebrations to a premature end by attacking Eddie in front of his friends and loved ones. Latino Heat would gain a measure of revenge the following week on Revolution by costing Mcintyre victory in a match against Edge, which led to the announcement of a grudge match between the two at Backlash. In his first in-ring return to a UWF PPV, McIntyre defeated Guerrero in dominant fashion.
Following Backlash came the return of the King of the Ring, but despite grabbing a lot of eyes and attention in the weeks leading up to the start of the tournament, there was no place for Drew in the competitor bracket. Incensed by this, the Scotsman went on yet another destructive rampage and ended up attacking the UWF Champion Trevor Lee, thus making his intentions crystal clear. After telling EC3 that he was not content with waiting for opportunities and being consistently overlooked, the UWF owner initially denied McIntyre's request to challenge Lee for the title until the Mayor of Harlan showed up and demanded Carter book the match. The two would then clash at Final Battle, where to the shock and surprise of many, McIntyre emerged victorious in rather quick fashion, submitting Lee via the Iron Maiden and securing his first ever UWF Championship victory.
Whilst the effective bypassing of the King of the Ring tournament ended up working in McIntyre's favor, the first challenge of the new title reign would come in the shape of the eventual tournament winner, Kyle O'Reilly. It was around this time that McIntyre revealed that he had been working with Stokely Hathaway, a businessman and wrestling manager who offered to assist the Scotsman in keeping legal threats being levied towards him at bay. McIntyre and Hathaway spent the following weeks waging war against O'Reilly and his step-sister Bayley, which then culminated in a match at Summerslam between the Champion and the King. Despite an incredible effort from O'Reilly who kicked out of three Claymore pin attempts, McIntyre was ultimately able to slay the Diabetic Dragon and retain his championship.
On the same night that McIntyre retained his title, Sami Zayn also earned the right to be the next in line to challenge for the grand prize by defeating Will Ospreay. Despite both men being vilified by the majority of the UWF fanbase, the general preference of opinion seemed to sway more in McIntyre's favor and for the first time in years he found himself getting cheered more frequently as he fought to keep his prize from falling into Zayn's hands. A premature title victory celebration party on Revolution ended up backfiring on the Forever Champion as McIntyre destroyed everything and everyone in sight to seize control of the momentum going into Bad Blood. After another hard fought contest, McIntyre was able to submit Zayn via the Iron Maiden and keep the UWF Championship in his possession.
At the Halloween Havoc supershow, McIntyre challenged anyone on the Revolution roster to come out and stake their claim for the next title shot, a challenge that was answered by Roman Reigns and accepted by the reigning champion without any hint of hesitation. Over the coming weeks the Scotsman and the Tribal Chief would attempt to one-up the other by interfering in each others matches in order to gain and maintain the physical and mental advantage in what was bound to be a closely fought, hard hitting contest. In the final PPV match of the year at Slammiversary, both men did indeed bring the big fight as expected, but it was ultimately McIntyre that was able to prevail after putting Reigns away with a Claymore to successfully retain his championship for a third time.
Another successful title defence immediately followed as McIntyre saw off the challenge of Eddie Guerrero once again on UWF's 200th episode, but there was no cause for celebration on the historic night as the Scotsman could only watch on helplessly as Vinny Marseglia abducted Stokely and spent the following weeks torturing him to within an inch of his life. The actions were intended to break down McIntyre, who failed to free his business associate and ended up falling for several of the Horror King's mind games. Eventually Marseglia allowed Stokely to go free, but only after he inadvertently found himself on the end of a Claymore after McIntyre tried and failed to get the jump on his rival. Marseglia challenged for the UWF Championship at the Royal Rumble event, but after a hotly contested affair, it was McIntyre who was able to retain his title once again and gain a measure of revenge on the man who had mentally messed with him.
After acquiring the protective services of Braun Strowman to help ensure that no future harm would come to his business associate, McIntyre's attention turned towards the winner of the 2024 Royal Rumble match, LA Knight. For several weeks both the champion and the number one contender traded verbal and occasional physical barbs as well as engaging in unorthodox activities so as to try and gain the overall advantage. This included The Thursday Night Thriller overcoming Strowman in an arm wrestling challenge and McIntyre taking on Chris Adonis in his Adonis Lock Challenge, becoming the first man to successfully break the hold in the process. At Wrestlemania XIII, Knight was able to do what some were beginning to consider impossible and successfully pinned McIntyre to win the UWF Championship, ending the Scotsman's impressive title reign at 259 days, the longest world title run in Revolution history.
Bad blood was still rife between Knight and McIntyre however, which was apparent when the Claymore King crashed the Thursday Night Thriller's title celebration on the following episode of Revolution. It quickly became apparent that these two were destined to collide in the ring again, but that it would take more than just an ordinary match to settle things once and for all. A couple of weeks later, McIntyre proposed they wage war inside of a Steel Cage, with Knight then going one better and suggesting they upgrade to Hell in a Cell, which the Scotsman gladly accepted. Despite the pleas of Stokely Hathaway for the match to be called off one week prior, the contest did end up taking place at Backlash, where Knight was once again victorious, leaving a title-less McIntyre physically and mentally broken.
Weeks went by and there was no sight, sound or sign of the Claymore King throughout the UWF landscape, until the night of Final Battle when McIntyre appeared unannounced and declared in front of a hot crowd that he was still very much in business. As a sign that things were now going to be different though, McIntyre fooled the audience into thinking that Strowman was going to be kicked out of his little group, when it actuality it was Hathaway that was receiving his marching orders. In the end, McIntyre ended up paying The Wrecking Machine off, but not before his now former business associate was thrown into a dumpster after being floored a devastating Claymore and Running Powerslam.
