Character: JD McDonagh
Alignment: Heel
Gimmick: JD McDonagh didn't join the pro wrestling business out of desire for fame or money. His choice of career was driven by his appreciation of the marriage of violence and sophistication that can only be found in the wrestling ring. McDonagh possesses an analytical mind, which is constantly breaking down his opponents' vulnerabilities and weaknesses. By the time he steps into the ring for a match, he has already worked out the best way to hurt his opponent. McDonagh freely admits that he is a sociopath and is not bothered about any injuries he inflicts. He doesn't care if he goes too far and impacts another person's long-term quality of life. However, he would be offended if accused of mindless brutality. He views himself as brutal but refined. To him, good wrestling is art. He has come to UWF to work on his masterpiece.
Preferred Finisher: The Devil Inside (Back Drop Driver)
Promo:
In a dimly-lit area backstage, we see JD McDonagh staring straight at the camera, a slight smirk creeping across his face.
JD McDonagh: Judgment has come for UWF. There are plenty of talented wrestlers here, but their talents are wasted. Sure, they win matches. If they're lucky, they'll win a championship or two somewhere along the way. However, their talent is raw and unrefined. They lack that special something that would make them truly shine. The brute force approach is just barbaric. Now that I'm here though, the world will see a more elegant form of violence. You see, I am someone who is not content to be here and not shine. You will see me break the pro wrestling business down and pick my opponents apart, piece by piece.
He pauses to let his words sink in, his smirk still visible on his face. However he intends to make sure he “shines” in UWF, the thought of it clearly excites him. Eventually, he continues talking, his gaze remaining fixed on the camera.
JD McDonagh: I found some like minded friends in the Judgment Day, people who appreciate the finer side of this business. They know how to cave a man’s chest in and make it look… beautiful. All the fans and viewers of UWF will watch our rise and honestly it doesn’t matter whether they like us or hate us, as long as they see us. You see, creativity needs an audience and everyone who buys a ticket or watches at home will see just how creatively we can turn a human being into a broken body.
The slight smirk on McDonagh’s face turns into a full-blown grin as he imagines the violence he and his Judgment Day compatriots plan on inflicting on the rest of the UWF roster. He leans closer to the camera before adding one last exclamation point to the end of his speech.
JD McDonagh: Phase one: arrive and ensure all eyes are on us.
McDonagh’s eyes linger on the camera for a few more seconds, before he steps back into the shadows, leaving viewers around the world to wonder what the arrival of the Judgment Day means for the future of UWF.
