Thank you to best head writer I've ever seen. If I had what it took to become the head writer I would, but I could never do what you guys do. You've set the bar impossibly high, and the next person stepping up will have the biggest of shoes to fill.

#ThankYouDanny
Thank you for being the absolute best, thank you for giving me a more permanent home for e-fedding, thank you for helping introduce me to a lot of chill as heck people, and thank you for just...not being like most other head writers I've dealt with. Sucks to hear you having to leave like this, but to quote one American Dream, "Happy trails to you, 'til we meet again."

I've been holding off on replying to this thread for a while because I couldn't quite think of the right way to structure my thoughts. Danny got a lot of thank you notes here, and that's great, because he deserves every single one of them — and then some.
There are a lot of newer guys here who may not be super aware of this fed's history, as well as older guys who are very aware. Hopefully newer guys will read something useful in this spiel I'm about to leave behind, and older guys will have a few fond memories dredged up because of it.
Danny has saved this fed from total collapse on more than one occasion. Sometimes, he did it single-handedly. Other times, he did it as part of a team. Everyone knows about the new site and the birth of Revolution by now, so I won't flog that dead horse any longer. But what a lot of the guys on the site don't realize is that was, by my count, at least the third occasion where you personally helped to keep this fed afloat.
Three years ago, when I took over Thunder from andy, I wasn't ready to be a headwriter. I was going through a lot of things personally and I just couldn't run a show myself. Dres stepped in and covered the gap after Nitro was born from Thunder's ashes, but that was a short-term arrangement. And then Danny stepped up. It's my personal belief that if you hadn't, and NXT hadn't been brought into existence, the fed would have died. Maybe not right away, but in a few months at most. People were getting disengaged because I could never get a show out on time and the quality suffered when Dres was forced to inherit something that was already a mess. You righted the ship, rebranded it, and created what would become the flagship brand of the UWF for more than a year. You also dealt with a lot of bullshit politics from both your fellow staff and from veteran TTers on the brand, and you handled it all with a cool head and even hand. I can't overstate how much respect you won from me during that period.
After running NXT for a long period of time, you were going to take a break. I was going to step back up for a while. Mike and Hoov wanted to use the opportunity to poach NXT's best talents and turn the brand into a half-baked developmental deal. You put an end to that, ended your break early and came back to headwriting sooner than you intended to. Another bullet dodged. And what's more, you stuck around a lot longer after that than anyone had any right to ask you to.
Then came the old site shutdown. Someone more selfish probably would have just thrown his hands up and walked away, but you didn't. You took a leading role, along with Gurt on GFX and myself on the maintenance/back end, to get a new site set up and a rebooted fed up and running on very short order and steered the new flagship brand for more than a year.
This turned into more of a history lesson than I had planned, but all of it was by way of saying thank you, Danny. You've wanted to step back or walk away a few times, so when you told me that you wanted to back away again this most recent time, I wasn't sure if it'd be the time you finally actually did. But the fed is stable, now. It's in damned good shape. Possibly the best shape it's been in since I joined. And all of that is, in no small way, thanks to your time and effort and hard work. Running my own brand now, I'm seeing how tough the job can be. But I always think of the legacy you've left behind, and when I'm feeling a little overwhelmed, that keeps me going.
This is a hobby a lot of us enjoy, but few people have sacrificed as much time and energy to it as you have. And that is very apparent, and very appreciated. So enjoy your retirement, Danny. You've earned it.
