UWF TRASHTALKER OF THE YEAR 2018
The UWF Trashtalker of the year is the individual who has consistently represented the best in trashtalking in the federation, with great reliability and quality never in question. This person may have been a frequent championship winner, long-term holder of a title, or just someone who always showed up regardless of whether he had a title or not. Great brands are built on the efforts of solid TTers, and this individual was the most solid of the bunch this year.
THE NOMINEES:
Dresden While Dres didn't manage to win a world championship this year, he has been a consistent key player in the main event scene of both brands over the course of it with his Vinny Marseglia, consistently showing up and often pushing the pace in threads. In so doing, he helped set the bar for what it takes to be a main event player here in the UWF. He also briefly played a strong Elias on Revolution after the brand split.
Fauche Once again a world champion, Fauche has brought his superb trashtalking talents to multiple characters this year, including current UWF Champion Larry Sweeney. Fauche is routinely one of the most dependable and active trashtalkers and his quality is often held up as the gold standard in the federation.
George He may not have held UWF gold as of yet, but George is still one of — if not the — most dependable presences on the roster. When he is booked, he shows up and promos. When he's not, he promos some more. And he does so with a style that is both good and uniquely his own.
Gurt Like Dresden, Gurt has yet to win a world championship, but he was in the position to do just that as the Money in the Bank briefcase holder before giving it and his character at the time up to try something new. Since dropping Jimmy Jacobs, he has tried his hand at and is finding his feet with both Kenny Omega and Edge and Christian. A man of myriad voices, Gurt has done well with diversity in 2018.
Jye The inaugural Prime Time Champion has also been one of the most active participants on the Resistance brand since it launched. After switching from Sammy Guevara to Drew McIntyre, Jye showed a hunger and the ability to develop both his trashtalking skills and his character's voice and story — traits that are shared with many of the finest trashtalkers in federation history.
Leedles Having been both the Intercontinental and European Champion at different times this year, Leedles has shown he is among the brightest of the young stars shining here in the UWF since his arrival. Often one to push the pace in threads, he's also a solid writer and routinely submits multiple promos to each show, as well.
Max The first-ever European Champion on Resistance, Max has shown a knack for writing really solid trashtalks and may be one of the few in the fed to bear the distinction of defeating Fauche and Dres, among others. Oh, and he started the year on an undefeated streak.
Soup It seems like there is nothing that Soup can't do, from becoming a world champion (again) on the most basic workhorse face character you could ask for, or showing off a more unusual side as the Switchblade Jay White. Like Gurt, Soup has the ability to make almost any character his own, and in spite of a hiatus he has made his presence felt throughout the year.

I won't lie, when I first joined the fed, I was scared of how good Soup was. It's been awesome knowing all of these contenders, but Soup has always worried me in threads. I've somehow managed to beat him in every instance we've clashed outside of the Survivor Series eliminations, but I always leave a thread thinking he's got it in the bag. Talent, pushing the pace, and downright passion for the fed is hard to find, and he's stuck around for a while showing his stuff. The Cesaro/Heyman combo was what we needed for a first world champion, and that standard has been set high by him.

Not gonna say who I voted for, but I did get a chance to face everyone nominated and they're all terrific. Surprised / horrified that Crann isn't nominated, cause his Ziggler is one of the great all-time UWF characters and his Triple's arc has been a super compelling centerpiece of Revolution and he plays The Game better than I've seen anyone else do it (and while I'm happy to be champ still, I'm amazed I ever got past him with the thing tbh). But also, I nominated someone else.
Not a name on this list I think doesn't belong here. I think the dudes that haven't won world titles all just happen to play the more interesting, well developed characters. A lot of good things to say about all of them so I'm not gonna add anything to what Crann's already typed above, but heck, I remember tt'ing against Cesaro / Heyman with Steen and thinking that I've never faced anyone that good before. Just bringing it up so people remember how rad Cesaro was for a while there. Everyone else still fresh.

Definitely understand why all of these nominations were made.
I like George’s contributions and work a lot. Marty Scurll is a compelling character and while I can’t say I’ve understood every call that’s ever been made as far as things he cooks up, I’m still a fan.
Gurt caught my eye very quickly, not only because of how knowledgeable he was of things and how supportive he was of me returning despite our never meeting, but because his material was very compelling.
Jye has nailed down how to be both serious with McIntyre and comedic with Leyton Buzzard. To simultaneously pull off both convincingly can be tricky but he does it.
Leedles was the first opponent to push me to 3-3 upon my return to UWF and has continued to impress me with his work ethic ever since. His is the Miz with the most depth and character growth I’ve ever seen and whether it’s been serious stuff, stuff with Maryse, or Hired Gunns material there’s been a lot of range shown.
I’ve only faced Max once but he’s no doubt a great trash talker in his own right. Inventive and consistent both.
Soup is no doubt top tier. I’ve seen him play a lot of diverse and different characters over the years, both as his opponent and otherwise, and I can’t get over how good the guy is.
With all that being said, I voted for the guy I nominated for this particular award, the one and only Fauche. Fauche is consistent without fail and a bottomless pit of creativity with all of his characters. I mean seriously, the guy never seems to run out of material.
Also, it’s very cool to be nominated for this and see that I got several votes. Thanks everyone, and best of luck to all the nominees!
